FDI inflows slumped in the third quarter of 2018, caused by a decline in business confidence. Australia remains major provider of FDI inflows, accounting for 52.0% of total FDI stocks in the country.
Services remains the major sector accounting for 71.8% of New Zealand’s economy. Services are followed by mining, manufacturing and utilities, which accounted for 22.0% of the economy in 2018.

- As per World Banks logistics performance index (LPI), transport and logistic infrastructure in New Zealand has improved over the last two years with an improvement in rank from 37th in 2016 to 15th out of 160 countries in 2018.
- The NZX 50 Index, widely considered a benchmark of the overall performance of stocks listed in the New Zealand Stock Exchange, has exhibited an increasing trend. As of March 15, 2019, the NZX 50 Index stood at 9,473.27, compared to 8,467.33 in March 15, 2018.
