Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) are increasingly being used in defense and homeland security applications, and in the future they are expected to become part of the force structures of many military forces around the globe.
UGVs were widely used in EOD and demining missions for many decades now. However, developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and telecommunications have helped them to expand their use in complex scenarios such as logistics, combat and Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T).

OMFV would offer the option to use it either as a manned or unmanned platform. This would give the ability to a manned OMFV to command one or more unmanned versions of the same type, establishing MUM-T fighting formations that would overwhelm enemy defenses.
