The Government of British Columbia (GOBC) and the City of Vancouver along with Holborn Properties are undertaking the construction of Little Mountain Housing Redevelopment project in British Columbia, Canada.

The project involves the redevelopment of 224 social housing units into 234 new subsidized housing units on 6.15ha of land.

It includes the construction of 1,573 market residential units ranging between three and 12-story, 48 affordable housing units, a 69-space childcare facility, an amenity room, a community garden, a public park, a bicycle and scooter storage room, parking facilities, and the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.

On January 29, 2012, an open house meeting held.

Gair Williamson Architects has been appointed as architect for the first phase.

In August 2014, construction works on the first phase (53 new affordable senior housing units) was completed.

IBI Group Inc. has been appointed as master planner, James KM Cheng Architects as design consultant, PFS Studio as landscape architect, Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd as civil engineer, Bunt & Associates as consulting engineer, Underhill Geomatics Ltd as surveyor, Light House Sustainable Building Centre as study Consultant, and Compass Resource Management Ltd and ArborTech Tree Services, LLC as environmental consultants.

On October 30, 2015, Holborn Properties (HP) and IBI Group Inc. (IBI) submitted rezoning application to the city council.

The two open houses for presenting the new rezoning proposal were held on November 28, 2015 and December 3, 2015.

On April 22, 2016, Holborn submitted a revised rezoning application to the city council.

On July 26, 2016, the city council approved the development plan.

The project is expected to take at least 10 years for completion.

In January 2017, community consultation process is underway.

Construction works commenced in the third quarter of 2017 and are underway.

Scope


The Little Mountain Housing project involves the redevelopment of 224 social housing units into 234 new subsidized housing units on 6.15ha of land in British Columbia, Canada.

The US$330 million project also includes the following:
