Bane Nor SF (Bane Nor) is undertaking the construction of Vestfold Railway Line in Norway.

The project involves the construction of 68.5km Vestfold Railway Line through Six sections.

I. Drammen to Kobbervikdalen section

It includes the construction of 9km double track railway line from Drammen Station to Kobbervikdalen, new stations in Drammen and Gulskogen.

ECT AS has been appointed as an electrical engineering, and Norconsult AS as the design consultant.

In April 2018, the city council approved the detailed regulation plan and development agreement.

Planning activities are underway and the construction work is expected to commence in 2019 and scheduled to be complete by 2024.

II. Holm-Nykirke Section:

It includes the replacement of a current 15km single-track service rail with a 14.1km double-track section from Holm Sande to Nykirke crossing tracks in Re, the construction of a 12.3km rock tunnel, new underground station comprising four tracks, of which two will be high-speed through-lines and two will be local lines with platforms and ventilation shafts, the installation of signaling and electrical systems.

Marti IAV DA, a joint venture between Marti Contractors Ltd and AV hf has been appointed as the construction contractor. AVs part of the section is called UHN07 Snekkestad and it includes the construction of the 2km long main tunnel, 300m of access tunnel and 400m of an escape tunnel.

On August 16, 2010, the construction works commenced.

In November 2016, construction activities completed and inaugurated on November 28, 2016.

III. Nykirke to Barkker section

It includes the construction of a new 14km, double track railway line from Nykirke to Barkker.

In 2010, Bane NOR conducted the feasibility studies.

The impact assessment provided three alternative options namely Bakkenteigen, Skoppum East and Skoppum West for the new double track railway line.

In October 2016, Bane NOR recommended corridor Skoppum West and the new station on the west side of Adalsborgen.

In November 2016, Bane NOR commenced the zoning process for regulation and impact on landfill sites.

Planning activities are underway and zoning process for regulation and impact on landfill site is scheduled to be completed in June 2018. Construction work is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2019 and to be completed by 2024.

IV. Barkker-Tnsberg Section:

It includes the construction of 7.8km new double track line between Barkker and Tnsberg, 5.8km double track line from Skotte, north of Barkker, to Tnsberg, a 1.75km tunnel through Frodesen, a 1.75km Jarlsberg tunnel that starts at Tomsbakken (national road 19) and emerges at Frodegata in Tnsberg, just outside Tnsberg station, and the installation of signaling and electrical systems.

On March 2, 2009, the construction works commenced on this section and completed in November 2011.

V. Tonsberg to Larvik section:

It includes the construction of construction of a new 40km, double track line from Tonsberg to Larvik via Sandefjord.

In March 2015, Norconsult AS and Asplan Viak AS secured the contract from Bane NOR to manage the project with subcontractors.

In the second quarter of 2016, Bane NOR completed preliminary study works.

On March 1, 2017, Bane NOR initiated public consultation process.

Planning activities are underway and Construction work is being scheduled to be completed by 2032.

VI. Farriseidet-Porsgrunn Section:

It includes the construction of a new 22.7km, double track line from Farriseidet to Porsgrunn, which replace the winding section of line between Larvik and Porsgrunn.

The section includes the construction of seven tunnels with a combined length of 14.5km, ten bridges the longest of which will cross Hallevannet in Larvik, platforms and ventilation shafts, the installation of signaling and electrical systems.

It also features the construction of 2.08km long Eidanger tunnel from the seven tunnels and a 1.34km-long open section including a bridge over Norcem sidetrack.

NCC Construction AS has been appointed as the construction contractor for the Farriseidet-Porsgrunn section.

In November 2012, Veidekke was appointed as the construction contractor for the two train tunnels.

Bane NOR issued tenders for the Eidanger tunnel of the project with a submission deadline as of January 18, 2013. On July 22, 2013, Implenia Norge was appointed as the construction contractor. The tunnel is being constructed using drilling & blasting method.

In 2012, construction works commenced.

In August 2015, Caverion Norge AS was awarded electrical system supply contract for Farriseidet-Porsgrunn Section.

Borge Milj AS has been appointed as membranes subcontractor and yan & Schie AS and Allfug AS joint seal subcontractor.

In 2016, construction works on the Eidanger tunnel completed.

In September 2017, Arne Olav Lund AS has been appointed to undertake the cleanup and cleaning along the new track, a return of rigging areas and construction roads, drip protection in tunnels and asphalting at technical tunnels.

Construction works on Farriseidet-Porsgrunn Section are underway and expected to be completed by September 2018.

The project involves the construction of 68.5km Vestfold Railway Line through Six sections in Norway.

The US$4,250 million project includes the following:

I. Drammen to Kobbervikdalen section

1. Construction of a 9km double track railway line from Drammen Station to Kobbervikdalen
