AVIC International Real Estate Kenya Ltd (AVIC), a subsidiary of AVIC International Holding Corporation, is undertaking the construction of a mixed-use complex in Nairobi, Kenya.
The project involves the construction of a 2,500m2 mixed-use complex on a 3ha of land.
It includes the construction of a 47-story office tower (AVICs International headquarter), a 42-story hotel with 365 rooms, two 24-story, a 25-story, and 28-story apartment towers, a four-story commercial podium and parking facility for 1,700 cars and the installation of elevators and safety systems.
GMP Architekten, Triad Architects, and HS Architects have been appointed as architects, AWEMAC as an environmental consultant, Cushman & Wakefield Inc. as a marketing consultant, Norkun Intakes Ltd and GIBB Africa Ltd as consulting engineers, YMR Partnership as a surveyor and China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd as main contractor.
On July 19, 2015, AVIC secured approvals from the Nairobi City County government for the project. However, construction works stalled on the site in September 2015, when Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel filed an appeal challenging the approval awarded by the National Environment Management Authority (Nema).
On December 18, 2015, AVIC secured approval to continue construction after the Nema tribunal dismissed Kempinskis appeal.
Construction works are underway and scheduled to complete by the fourth quarter of 2020.
AVIC International Holding Corporation is undertaking the construction a 2,500m2 mixed-use AVIC Complex on a 3ha of land in Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.
The US$98 million project includes the following:
