The project involves the construction of a 66,385m2 metal recycling complex on a six-block area comprising 12 buildings (two new buildings, 10 existing buildings).
It includes the construction of a 24,805m2 headquarters building, a 3,939m2 warehouse space, processing units, washing units, storage facilities and related infrastructure, the installation of equipment and machinery.
On September 10, 2015, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) approved US$253 million in tax incentives for the project.
On December 13, 2016, EMR submitted a request to NJEDA for financial assistance for the revised plans.
The revised plans include the two new buildings, 10 existing buildings and the elimination of the 9,569m2 waste-to-energy facility with the project cost reduced from US$253 million to US$149 million.
The subsidy tax credits are yet to be approved by NJEDA.
