United States Microwave Video Link Equipment  Used in Electronic News Gathering/Outside Broadcast (ENG/OB) Market Forecast and Analysis (2009-2016)

In 2009, conditions in the US commercial microwave wireless video link equipment marketplace, specifically addressing the Electronic News Gathering / Outside Broadcast (ENG/OB) industry sectors, were difficult mostly due to the economic downturn. The financial crisis, initially referred to in the media as a "credit crunch" or "credit crisis" and upgraded by many in terminology to “GD-2” (Great Depression number 2), which began back in July 2007. The economic downturn greatly affected the advertisement revenues of the television broadcasters (TV stations); thereby forcing a decline in ENG/OB expenditures for microwave video link equipment.

Several suppliers of microwave video link equipment manufacturers reported revenue declines in 2009, pertaining to the ENG/OB sector in the United States; however, the second-half of 2009 was up versus the first-half, and ElectroniCast is forecasting an increase in consumption for 2010-2016.

This study report provides 2009 market data review, plus 2010-2016 market forecast of selected microwave video products, which are used by the Electronic News Gathering, Outside Broadcast (ENG/OB) industry sectors in the United States (see Table 1).

ElectroniCast presents the market analysis and forecast, segmented by the four main regional divisions used by the United States Census Bureau, as listed below:

• Northeast United States
• Midwest United States
• Western United States
• Southern United States

The market forecast data are presented for the selected microwave/ wireless video link products, segmented by the following functions:

• Consumption Value (US$, million)
• Quantity (number/units)
• Average Selling Prices (ASP $, each)

The consumption value is determined by multiplying the number of units by the average selling price. The average selling prices are based on the price of the devices at the initial factory level. The consumption values are based on the end-user application and the end-user region.
