Highlights
The Czech Republic has the highest density of petrol stations in central Europe, which is also highlighted by the high number of independent sites and small service station chains. In total there are 1,916 independent sites or service stations that are part of a small chain. Combined, these account for a third of fuel volumes in the country.
Benzina AS, which is owned by Unipetrol, a subsidary of PKN Orlen, has 334 service stations operating under its brand in the Czech Republic. Since 2006, 28 sites have been added to the network, and at the start of 2010 there will be 339 AS Benzina branded service stations. PKN Orlen aims to have 440 Benzina branded outlets by the beginning of 2011.
132 OMV service station shops operate under the Viva brand. Catering services are also provided at 55 Viva branded stores. There are also 10 larger restaurants with seating areas throughout the OMV service station network, each with a capacity of 60 to 140. Traditional Czech meals are provided at these outlets.
