As the largest PF producer and consumer around the world, China’s PF capacity is 491,000t/a as of April 2011, accounting for 57% worldwide. Moreover, in 2010, the consumption of PF reaches 143,500 tonnes in China, holding 43% of the total globally. However, both the output and consumption of PF have slowed much in China in 2009 and 2010 due to the downturn of downstream industries impacted by financial crisis. And China's PF industry is recovering difficultly in 2009 and 2010. As of April 2011, there are mainly 30 PF producers in China. After rapid expansion in 2007 and 2008, some producers have been washed out facing intense competition. What is the performance of these major producers in PF production in 2010? And whether some new projects or capacity expansion are planned at present? China is still a net importer of PF in 2010. However, with the technological improvement and production expansion, the import volume of PF keeps decreasing in recent years, while it is increasing for export. What are the changes in China's import and export of PF in recent years, and how about the detailed import and export situation of PF in 2010? Chinese PF industry is greatly influenced by development of its downstream industries, especially glyphosate in herbicides. At present, there are 2 major production pathways in glyphosate production, namely AEA pathway and IDA pathway. Using PF as raw material is only suitable for AEA pathway. Affected by global financial crisis, the demand for glyphosate has kept slumping since the latter half of 2008. Further more, owing to environmental problems, AEA pathway in the production of glyphosate is facing increasingly intense competition from IDA pathway. Meanwhile, China's PF industry has seen signs of overcapacity in recent years. How these factors will influence PF development in China in the future?
