Summary
The Ministry of Construction and Regional Development (MCRD), Slovakia and the Ministry of National Development (MND), Hungary are undertaking the construction of a bridge and access roads from Komarno in Slovakia to Komqrom in Hungary.
The project includes the construction of a 600m, 20.4m width two-lane road asymmetric bridge with one pylon and suspension cables. It includes the construction of two-way pedestrian walkway with a width of 1.80m, a cycle route with a width of 2.5m, and access roads including adjacent roads and intersections on both sides of the border.
In March 2016, the European Commission has approved US$109 million funds for the project, where Slovakia to receive US$52 million funds and Hungary to US$57 million funds under the European Union (EUs) Connecting Europe Facility.
On May 30, 2017, H-M Dunahd consortium comprising the companies Hidepito and Meszaros es Meszaros received US$102 million construction contract.
Construction works are slated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017 and scheduled to complete in the second quarter of 2019.
Scope
The project involves the construction of a bridge connected by access roads over the Danube River, between Komarno in Slovak and Komarom in Hungary.
The US$130 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a 600m, 20.4m width two-lane road asymmetric bridge
2. Construction of two-way pedestrian walkway with a width of 1.80m
3. Construction of a cycle route with a width of 2.5m
4. Construction of access roads on both sides of the border
