In December 2014, Environmental document was published for the public review.

On May 27, 2015, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board approved the project.

In March 2016, design works was completed.

On September 29, 2016, FHWA awarded the US$30 million contract to Martin Brothers Construction.

Construction on the Truckee River Bridge will commence in the third quarter of 2017 and the replacement of the Fanny Bridge will commence after the completion of Truckee River Bridge.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by fourth quarter of 2018.
