London City Airport (LAY) is undertaking the London City Airport Expansion project in London, the UK.

The project involves the expansion of airport facilities. It will include the extension of current terminal, including a new pier, baggage system and arrivals building.

The project will include the expansion of existing aircraft parking stands and the construction of further stand capacity to the east of the airport buildings, a new parallel taxi lane, a 75,000m2 concrete deck over King George V (KGV) Dock to provide new Code C aircraft stands, a multi-modal forecourt, a six-story hotel comprised of 260 rooms, a three-story passenger pier and parking facilities.

Pascall+Watson has been appointed as architect.

RPS has been appointed as an environmental consultant to prepare environmental impact assessment (EIA) and drafted construction environmental management plan (CEMP) for the project.

Atkins has been appointed as technical consultant for the project.

In September 2013, Pascall+Watson submitted planning application to the London Borough of Newham and Davies Commission and is waiting for the approval.

In February 2015, LAY received local planning approval to proceed with developments.

LAY secured approvals from the Government of UK On July 27, 2016.

Bechtel appointed as a construction contractor for the project On June 30, 2017.

On February 28, 2018, London City Airport awarded US$118 million contract to BAM Nuttall JV BAM International for a new 75,000m2 piling and decking extension.

Construction work on deck will commence in the second quarter of 2018 and expected to complete by the first quarter of 2020 and the entire project expected to complete 2021.

The project involves the expansion of the London City Airport facilities to handle 6.5 million passengers per year in London, the UK.

The US$669 million project includes the following:
